A Report on Beach Cleaning Program at Hejamadi Kodi Beach

FOREWORD

This report intents to brief about the beach cleaning program organized by  Alva’s Institute Of Engineering and Technology along with Alva’s Air Wing NCC and Mantra surfing club on 14 Nov 2021 under clean India initiative which involved 14 cadets and 01 ANO of 06 KAR AIR SQN NCC, flight – B, Mangalore along with  180 AIET student and 08 staff under the guidance and support of Mr. Vivek Alva, Managing Trustee, AEF. The main purpose of the campaign was to create awareness among the cadets and people regarding preservation of beaches.

OUR COMMITMENT AND ACTION

Clean India awareness program was conducted on 14 Nov 2021 to create awareness among the public and educate youth about the importance to save beaches and keep the surrounding clean and also to save the lives of water animals and nature. Managing trustee of Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology, Mr. Vivek Alva briefed about clean the coast line program and asked the cadets and students to take keen interest in cleanness drive as a national interest and empathized the responsibilities of the cadets and students towards changing mindset of people regarding the cleanliness issues in the country. There after students and cadets were organized themselves into 09 teams and launched the cleanliness drive throughout the beach and its surrounding. Each faculty was given the responsibility to lead the team such that garbage to be collected in proper way. The cadets and students collected more than 160 bags of plastic waste, 115 bags of glass wastes and 90 bags of foam and thermacol wastes which  are collected in red, white, and black colored bags separately. All the non-bio-degradable wastes were deposited at one place.

CONCLUSION

The cleanup was inspiring for the cadets. Cadets learnt the importance of conversation of nature through this activity. It is important to clean surroundings and it’s beneficial for human as well as to Mother Nature. Most of the local people at the beach joined us and supported for the cause. Cadets and students are really enthusiastic and looking for more in future.
