REPORT ON HAM RADIO FIELD DAY CONTEST VISIT

This report is to brief about the national level HAM Radio Field day contest conducted by Amateur Radio Society of India (ARSI) on 12 Mar and 13 Mar 2022. The HAMs of Mangalore Amateur Radio Club (MARC) sett up station at NITK, Surathkal to take part in ARSI contest, which is visited by NCC cadets of Flt – B, 06 KAR AIR SQN NCC, Flt-B Mangalore (Conducted by members of MARC).
MOTTO OF THE EVENT
The Field Day event was conducted for cadets to gain a better knowledge about HAM radio operation, comprehend the process to setting up the station in short time, frequencies of HAM radio, types of antenna and its propagation, method to get a license and exam to attempt to get a license. These topics were explained by the members of the Mangalore Amateur Radio Club. So that the cadets gain more knowledge about all these topics and, they were able see them practically that, what are required to build an HAM Station and how it works.
PRECEEDINGS OF THE DAY
On 12 Mar 2022, NCC cadets of Flt – B, 06 Kar Air Sqn NCC, Mangalore visit the contest site at NITK, Surathkal beach, where the HAMs of MARC club has set up the station and making QSOs with DX stations. A total of 38 cadets took part in this event. All NCC Cadets showed keen interest in the event.
The event was inspiring for the cadets of Flt – B, cadets got more knowledge about the practical implementation of Radio station and its operation, its frequency bands. The event inspired cadets to become HAM, so that they get license and make new contacts with people of other country to know more culture, heritage and technology.
We would like to thank the Mangalore Amateur Radio Club (MARC), Mangalore and NITK, Surathkal for giving an opportunity for cadets to visit the site. We also thank the CO, 06 Kar Air Sqn NCC, Mangalore for encouraging cadets to take part in such events.
