The main purpose of the campaign was to create awareness among the cadets, regarding preserving our MOTHER NATURE.

International Coastal Clean-up program is conducted on 19th of September every year to create awareness among the public and educate youth about the importance to save beaches and keep the surroundings clean and also to save the lives of water animals and nature .

A total of 52 Alva’s NCC Air Wing cadets and 01 ANO attended the event. The ANO briefed about Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan and asked the cadets to take keen interest in cleanliness drive as a national interest and emphasized the responsibilities of the cadets towards changing the mind-sets of the people regarding the cleanliness issues in the country. Thereafter cadets organized themselves into two teams and launched the cleanliness drive throughout the beach and its surroundings. The cadets collected more than 40 bags of waste which included plastic waste, foot wears, glass bottles, degradable items, polyester, etc. All the waste were separately collected in the black bags.  The tourism department had taken responsibility of collecting these garbage bans from beach and to dispose it.

The clean-up was inspiring for the cadets. Cadets learnt the importance of conservation of nature through this activity, it is important to clean surroundings and its beneficial for humans as well as to mother nature. Most of the local people at the beach joined us and supported for the cause. Creating awareness was our motto and we succeeded in it as some groups of visitors helped us for cleaning the beach.
